Stag weekends Limassol

A stag do in Limassol.

Limassol is the elegant one. The best hotels on the island, the best restaurants, a working marina, a casino, and nights out that are smarter than anywhere else in Cyprus. It's also where we live, so everything on this page is somewhere we've actually been.

Is Limassol right for your group?

Yes, if

  • The group spans a range of ages
  • You want the weekend to feel expensive, not messy
  • The dinner and the night out both matter
  • A casino night is on the list
  • Your dates fall outside the summer season

Probably not, if

  • The plan is a strip you can walk end to end
  • The group intends to be loud and doesn't mind where
  • Fancy dress and chanting are part of the idea

Worth saying plainly, because it saves a wasted evening at a door: Limassol is the more formal of the two. The clubs are more upmarket and the door staff care how a group arrives — a stag group that would be fine in Ayia Napa can find itself turned away here. For a lot of groups that is exactly the appeal: a night out that feels like an occasion. If your group wants something louder and less buttoned-up, Ayia Napa is the better fit, and we plan plenty of weekends there.

Where to stay

Four shapes, and the right one depends on whether the group wants to be in the middle of it or above it.

One thing worth knowing: the old town is better at night than it looks by day. Sleepy at noon, and then it's where the evening happens. Staying there means walking home rather than negotiating taxis for fourteen at two in the morning.

What groups actually do here

The practical advantage of Limassol is density. Lunch at the marina, on a boat by two, back to shower by six, at a table by nine and out afterwards — without anyone losing the good part of the day in a minibus.

When to come

Any time. This is the real difference between Limassol and the east coast.

Ayia Napa is a season — late May to late September, and much of it shuts outside that. Limassol is a city people live in all year. The restaurants are open in February, the hotels are open, the seafront is busy on a Sunday in November. Summer is hotter and more expensive; spring and autumn are quieter, cheaper, and still warm enough for the boat. If your dates are awkward, this is the answer.
